Nine months later on 22 June 1853 George, Hannah and small daughter Charlotte bid good-by to Hannah's family. They were on their way to Liverpool for the purpose of going to the Island of Malta, to join the L. D. S. Mission there.

When they arrived in Liverpool they were detained there until the 17 of July 1853, when they set sail on the steamship "Teniffre" and sailed from the Cabourgh Docks, They were greeted fourteen days later by Bro. Obray and Bro. and Sister Bell.

December 2, 1853 another son, Thomas Lorenzo was born to Hannah and George.

A few days after his birth the tiny babe was afflicted by an evil spirit and his darling baby face was terribly distorted and he foamed at the mouth and his mouth was drawn to one side.

Fear clutched at Hannah's heart. Was she to lose another son from her tender care? George had strength enough for both. Brother Bell was sent for. When he and George laid their hands on the wee child and in the name of the Lord rebuked the evil influence and immediately he was relieved and became calm and his face returned to its natural form.

No words can tell of Hannah's relief and gratitude for the restoration of his health.

George soon spent his means for renting a building for the meetings and for a living for his family and for keeping a home for the Mission. It is not surprising what with the Russian War in Turkey and the Crimean War many of the new church members were sent from the Island, and the Elders found it necessary to send their wives and children back to England.

October 10, 1854 found Hannah once again parting from a loved one.

This time it was George who was left alone while Hannah and her two little ones boarded the steamer "Graca" for the return to Liverpool. From there they went to join her mother and family in Glasgow, Scotland.

In April George joined them and they planned to go to Zion. Brother Franklin D. Richards made arrangements for them to go to America.
