About the Singleton Ghosts

In England, near the village of Goosnargh, which is 6-3/4 miles North by Northeast of Preston, stands a small but ancient manor known as Chingle hall.

Chingle Hall, the home of the Singletons. Noted because of the unique roof, with shingles (old English Chingle) instead of the more common thatch. Hence the family name "de Chingultun" (from Shingle town). An ancient name that appears in the famed Doomsday Book for an ancient family.

As far as I know, this story is true. The history is real. The Singletons are historical people as are the Walls and even the Howarths. My father's maternal grandmother was a Singleton. This story is based on incidents and history recorded in "A History of John Singleton", compiled by Sam Singleton, Elma S. Bradshaw, Kenneth D. Singleton, Evlyn P. Shelton and Mary Jane W. Bracken, published August 1, 1973 by JMART. 280 No. Main, Spanish Fork, UT 84660.
